Today, out of the blue, I got this message from a client I haven’t spoken to for two years:
=====
Hello Daniel! I hope you’re doing well! We worked together some time ago on a couple of pages for <WEBSITE>.
I wanted to ask for your help once again …
Our latest offers combine two of the products you have written sales letters for in the past, and they’ve been doing very well with customers.
I would like your help writing a new sales page.
We saw that the letter format you did has a conversion rate that is 31% higher than the simpler product landing page.
What do you think? Can you help?
=====
Here’s two things I find interesting about this.
The first is this line:
“We saw that the letter format you did has a conversion rate that is 31% higher than the simpler product landing page.”
Well, how ‘bout that?
Everyone is down on long-form sales letters nowadays:
“People don’t read anymore!” “It’s too scammy!” “Sales letters don’t work in 2020!”
Yet this client is telling me that a long-form sales letter I wrote outpulled a standard short-form ‘product page’ by 31%!
That’s lesson numero uno.
Here’s the second interesting thing:
I haven’t spoken to this client for two years.
(Terrible of me, but I’ve just been so busy.)
Yet even after all this time, he reaches out to me.
Why?
Because the truth is, when you know how to write great sales copy for clients, you end up selling two things:
Obviously, your client’s product.
But also, you’re selling YOURSELF.
Yes, by making sales for this business for the last two years, that sales page I wrote has been an asset constantly selling the client on re-hiring ME.
Such is the power of knowing how to write good sales copy.
And if I were a regular copywriting guru, this is where I would segue into pitching my own copywriting course to you.
But … I don’t even have a copywriting course.
(Yet.)
So instead I’m going to pitch someone else’s.
But this isn’t even an affiliate deal. In fact, the guy has no idea I’m even writing about his product right now. It’s just something I signed up for myself yesterday, and I liked it so much I want to share it with you:
It’s called Weekly Email Income Secrets, by my buddy Rob Allen.
The premise is neat: every week, you get an email with upcoming copywriting trends, quick income opportunities, and freelancing tips.
In fact, the moment I joined and read the first report, I got an idea I was able to instantly call up a client with, to boost their email conversion rate almost immediately!
So, it gets the thumbs up from me.
Right now there are less than six out of 25 spots left for getting the subscription for half price, if you hurry.
By the time you’re reading this, they may all be gone … but I still think it’s a good deal at full price.
